Context and Practice: Trauma-Informed Approaches to Building Affirming Environments for LGBTQ+ Youth

On Thursday, August 11, 2016 at 2:00 PM ET, Defending Childhood, in partnership with the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP) and Futures Without Violence will present a 90-minute webinar, entitled "Context and Practice: Trauma-Informed Approaches to Building Affirming Environments for LGBTQ+ Youth."

During this event, the presenters will explore the identities and experiences of LGBTQ+ youth who face a variety of structural and interpersonal traumas. They will provide an overview of LGBTQ+ youth inequities, explore the challenges of domestic violence in LGBTQ+ communities and its impact on youth, and share the benefits of trauma-informed care for LGBTQ+ youth and specific approaches that participants can use in daily programming and care efforts.
