CJCA Staff Recruiting, Hiring, and Retention Toolkit

On Wednesday, March 13, 2019, at 1:00 PM EDT, the Council of Juvenile Correctional Administrators (CJCA) will host a 90-minute webinar entitled, "CJCA Staff Recruiting, Hiring, and Retention Toolkit."

The focus of the webinar will be to provide an overview and information presented in the CJCA Staff Recruitment, Hiring, and Retention Toolkit published in January 2019. The toolkit provides research, strategies, examples, and tools jurisdictions may use to improve current practices related to selecting and retaining qualified direct care staff.

The webinar objectives are:

  • To share best practices for recruiting and retaining direct care staff in the field of juvenile justice, including key factors contributing to staff retention and turnover
  • To provide specific strategies for recruiting, hiring, and retaining competent staff
  • To understand the fundamental role facility/agency culture and staff wellness plays in retaining staff
  • To understand how data plays a role in successfully recruiting and retaining competent direct care staff
  • Offer a series of steps to consider when beginning this work force development journey
