On July 16, 2013, at 12 p.m. ET, the National Association of State Mental Health Program Directors will host the Webinar “Shield of Care: A Suicide Prevention Model for Youth in the Juvenile Justice System,” sponsored by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration. This 90-minute Webinar will explore the “Shield of Care," a suicide prevention curriculum for staff working in juvenile justice residential facilities. Presenters will discuss how this system-focused model can assist juvenile justice staff in developing policy, connecting with youth, and working with other staff to prevent youth suicide. The free training manual, slides, and videos are available online.
